We should think of education as a kind of intellectual cross-training that leads to many more things than at any one moment you could possibly know would be useful. The most powerful education generates further curiosity, new needs, experiences to meet those needs, more curiosity and so on.

Education isn’t just an object that you use to get started in a career; education is a catalytic resource that continues to energize and shape your life. Education enhances your ability to develop new skills and capacities for connectivity that allow you to solve problems and seize opportunities.

Best idea of the day: ATMs that ask for Donations

Best idea of the day: My Chase ATM asked me for $1 donation.

How often do we walk by a homeless person en route or from the ATM and don’t give him money either because we only have $20s or b/c we prefer to make a systematic difference?

Love this one because it ties the moment you have this charitable urge (seeing the homeless person) together with the moment you can do something about it (when you access your money). And it’s a little daily reminder of the act of giving - the level and frequency of when we should be reminded.

“Do not lean back; lean in. Put your foot on that gas pedal and keep it there until the day you have to make a decision, and then make a decision. That’s the only way, when that day comes, you’ll even have a decision to make.” —FACEBOOK COO SANDBERG: The Women Of My Generation Blew It, So Equality Is Up To You, Graduates

“Broadly speaking, monarchists tend to justify the cost of the royal family by noting their positive impact on tourism—making the Windsor family the stuffy analog of, say, Australia’s kangaroos or China’s pandas.” —Royal Wedding Economics: Is the royal family good for the British economy or a drain on it? - By Annie Lowrey - Slate Magazine
