The Sad, Beautiful Fact That We're All Going To Miss Almost Everything : Monkey See : NPR → npr.org

A good way to look at consumption choices, like TV, movies, books, places of interests - where the universe of supply greatly outnumbers your time.

Recommendation services like Netflix have to provide users will the power to cull (actively choose) and instill enough trust for users to be willing to surrender (understand that they are only seeing part of the stream).

BARBARA CORCORAN: Here's How I Turned $1,000 Into $70 Million → businessinsider.com

Some ladies are dames.

Love the “there’s a real joy in being so stupid…” quote, but she talks so fast, couldn’t catch it verbatim!

Modular electronics + 3d printing = power of industrialization in the hands of the consumer. Or put another way, spend more time designing your favorite toys rather than pining for them!

“I personally learned a huge lesson, which was that being acquired by the market leader can be a kiss of death to a startup. If the acquirer is at the height of their power and you are still regarded as small and insignificant, they will find it incredibly difficult to change their ways — even if they are the smartest people in the world and your product represents a disruptive force to their business in the long run.” —

Exit interview: Jaiku’s Jyri Engeström - (37signals)

Have seen this time and again. There should be a support group for Google/Yahoo/AOL acquired founders.

A roundup of today's "Locationgate" news → tuaw.com

What’s telling is when bloggers report on this Apple location story, they all use their personal location tracking maps. Guess none of these guys have stalkers.

Always up for “putting things in perspective, oddly.” (Thrillist description)

Wonder if this is a tool Bill Bryson uses.

Toddlers, Boredom, and David Foster Wallace | DADWAGON → dadwagon.com

Nice lil’ piece that touches on the hyperactivity of today’s society.

In my own experience of mental spaces, both forced (looking at you, KorillaBBQ truck) and embraced, “boredom” is leaving the mind to do all the wondrous things we don’t understand that it does. I have so many aha! moments during a good walk. The city is my brain.

So while I have the 4 screens or whatever the total adds up to these days, I relish the quiet moments where no one (including and especially myself) is bothering me.

And I love in particular that at least one of these screens, my iPhone, lives between the screen world and real live, explorin’ space. So it’s not an either/or choice to be active and curious. This is why I love building products for mobile.

On another note, really miss reading Matt Gross (@worldmattworld) on a regular basis as NY Times’ former Frugal Traveler. Mental note to look for his blogs.

It this how rich people live, with someone to curate the newspaper each morning? Can only be better if they also make toast.
